Maximizing Water Clarity and Quality

A well-maintained pool filter is crucial for crystal-clear water. Pool filters trap debris, bacteria, and other contaminants, preventing them from circulating in your pool. Regular cleaning of your filter helps it operate efficiently, ensuring your pool water remains safe and sparkling.

We recommend monitoring the pressure gauge on your filter. When the pressure reads 8-10 psi above normal, it's time for a cleaning. This not only enhances water clarity but also extends the lifespan of your filtration system.

Types of Filters and Cleaning Techniques

Sand Filters: To clean a sand filter, begin by backwashing for 3-5 minutes. This reverses the water flow, flushing out contaminants. After backwashing, turn off the pump and set it to "filter." Remove the pump lid and pour the recommended amount of sand filter cleaner into the strainer basket. Follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully.

DE Filters: Cleaning a DE (Diatomaceous Earth) filter involves a few steps. Start by backwashing to remove debris. Next, drain the filter and carefully take out the DE filter manifold. Use a garden hose with a high-pressure nozzle to flush out the DE powder. After cleaning, reassemble the filter and add fresh DE powder to ensure peak performance.

Cartridge Filters: For cartridge filters, mix a cleaning solution in a large bucket and submerge the cartridge. Let it soak for three to ten hours. After soaking, rinse the cartridge thoroughly before reassembling the filtration system. This method effectively removes grime and ensures your filter is ready for use.
